Judith Layhe-Cook is a qualified, professional Counsellor with years of experience of counselling people from many walks of life and a wide variety of age groups. She worked for twelve years as a College counsellor, supporting students from 14 - 80+ years, although her core work is with the 11 - 25 years age group. At present she counsels at Myton School as well as in her private practice. Judith's therapeutic methods are based in Humanistic counselling, although she is able to offer different methods of therapy depending on the presenting issues, as different issues respond better to different therapies.

 

 

Judith is a Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, with Professional Indemnity Insurance and Enhanced Clinical Records Bureau clearance. She works and abides by the codes of practice of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, which can be found at http://www.bacp.co.uk.

 

 

She is also a trained Tai Chi and Chi Gung tutor and further details can be found on the website www.swantaichi.co.uk for class details. Judith is a forerunner in making a connection between Tai Chi and Pregnancy, where her aim is to promote enjoyment of pregnancy and good health both antenatally and postnatally for women and their babies.

 

Judith uses a combination of Tai Chi breathing and relaxation techniques to help address certain issues, for example: containing panic attacks, reducing stress, working through anger management and addressing depression to focus on the physical and emotional needs from the perspective of of the counselling client.
